This reminded me of something I've been wondering about for a while; does
checkpoint
restart on backups introduce any sort of noticable performance penalty? I
know there
must be some overhead and probably more for to tape than to disk, but I'm
wondering
if turning it on should be an automatic "Best Practice" or not.

Sounds like we all need to submit an enhancement request to have a
"suspend at window close"... then, if it's a critical backup, the admin
could resume it (assuming checkpoint restart here).
