We run HP's EVA hardware now.  At least I know when I deprovision a LUN
I know which hosts I'm taking it away from.  I don't know exactly which
LUN on the host it is - I still have to rely on either a host agent or
the sysadmin telling me the truth - but at least I know which host I'm
working with.  And yes, the sysadmins can get confused especially if you
have to translate hex to decimal.  We've been close but haven't ripped
functioning storage out from anybody yet.  We have allocated the same
lun to different hosts by mistake (it wasn't me!) and corrupted the
volume.  That was back in our EMC days - it's impossible to do that by
mistake in the EVA software (but there are other ways to screw it up!).
