You can't do a raw backups of a disk that has the OS installed, at least
on Windows client. This is the cause of your problems.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Can not run disk-image (raw) backups

I am trying to create a disk-image (raw) backup of a WIN2000 client, but
keep getting the following error message with a backup status of 1, but
the backup is only 1kb:
=20
"WRN - can't lock raw device for read: \\.\c: (WIN32 5: Access is
denied. )"
=20
I have added the logical name of the drive to the file list, as
instructed in the System Admin Guide. The guide says to enter it as
follows:
/\\.\c:
=20
I can run regular backups, but not disk-image backups.
=20
I've tried running the NBU client service (v3.4)as both the local admin
and domain admin, but still no success. The NBU client was installed
under the domain admin login; could that make a difference? Should I
reinstall it under the local admin? Please advise.
=20
(Master server is HPUX 11.0, Netbackup 3.4GA).

=20
Thanks, Patty
