Thanks for the info and link, it explained what the qmgr files do.
Someone replied off the list, that I should configure VSP(Volume Snapshot
Provider). As far as I can tell VSP is used to backup open files. The idea
being I don't need to maintain sets of exclude lists, because netbackup can
just backup the open files. This all sounds wonderfull. The the problem is I
thought I had it enabled all ready.
On the client side of things there is no mention of it at all. From the server
bpclient seems to think its switched on.
# bpclient -client windowsbox -L
Client Name: windowsbox
Current Host:
Hostname: windowsbox
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Connect on non-reserved port: no
No call-back connections: no
Dynamic Address: no
Free Browse: Allow
List Restore: Not Specified
Max Jobs This Client: Not Specified
WOFB Enabled: yes
WOFB FIM: VSP
WOFB Usage: Individual Drive Snapshot
WOFB Error Control: Abort on Error
But I still get problems like:-
# bperror | awk '{if ($6 == 7069) print}' | grep WRN | head -1
1113788385 1 4 8 netbackupserver 7069 7068 0 sqlserver bpbrm from client
windowsbox: WRN - can't open file: C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat (WIN32 32:
Unknown error)
Have I actually configured VSP? Is there a way to test it?
Regards
