A little off subject, but if he won't reboot, just how many MS security
patches have not been installed? We are forced to reboot just about
every month because of patches.

Thanks for all of the Information:
We got in a pickle until we get out 2003 Exchange server active:

Our NT Administrator Upgraded the Cluster / exchange nodes
>From 3.4.1 to 4.5(mp6)clients But Did not reboot either Node and prefers
not
too? Not sure why not?

We are still using 4.5(mp6) Datacenter until next Month.

The exchange 5.5 Database agent is 3.4 still on both nodes.

Now the Mailbox backups Fail, the directory and information store is
working?

I found that the netbackup client service changed from the privileged
account to local system: He changed that back but it still does not
Work?

Veritas support said that the 3.4 database agent should run with the 4.5
client, just have to Change the netbackup client service back to the
privileged exchange account. Veritas did recommend upgrading the
database
Agent to 4.5 and REBOOTING or at least rebooting to see if that fixes
the
old 3.4 agent.

Has anyone experienced problems with Windows / database agents after
upgrading Clients and or Database agents and NOT REBOOTING after the
install
or Upgrade?

Is there something I should watch out for if the Administrator Upgrades
and
Installs clients without rebooting, Since he seems to think that is
perfectly fine, now I have many clients that have not been booted after
The client installations not only our broken exchange cluster backups?

Thanks again:

In addition to Davis Rock's comment that agents are included in the
Windows 5.1 client, I'll add that after installing from the CD, update
with the latest maintenance pack (MP2 now). In addition to the
maintenance packs solving several minor problems, the base 5.1 server
has a major (data corruption) problem, so *immediately* update to a
maintenance pack w/o ever running 5.1 base server.

Also, whereas the clients can trail the server in version/update, they
should never lead the server. Veritas says they support 4.5 clients
with a 5.1 server, and I have two that are working fine. However, for
the first time, I'm seeing significant problems with other 4.5 clients
... that go away when the clients upgrade to 5.1MP2. As a late comer, I

don't have any 3.4 clients. :-)

cheers, wayne
