Do you have any idea how long it took for that rewind to complete?  30  
minutes or more?

That is the situation where I would expect NetBackup to have some  
trouble.  NBU sends the "offline" ioctl (i.e. it tells the drive to  
"rewind and prepare for physical unload" and then waits for the result  
before the MOVE MEDIUM request is sent to the robot.  BUT in the  
meantime, the robotic daemon (e.g. tldd) is waiting for this to happen,  
and tldd will only wait 30 minutes before it decides something is wrong  
and it downs the robot.

In a situation like this, I'd suggest you discuss this with your  
hardware vendor.  ("why did it take this media XX minutes to rewind?")
