My experience from a L2/3 switch perspective is that unless everything
on that fabric isn't EXACTLY set up with the same jumbo frame sizes,
within all clients/medai servers etc, you will run into more failures
and issues (not all installed NIC cards in hosts running various Os's,
allow for true dynamic settings for jumbo frames, yes - they allow you
to set them dynamically to the size you want, however, most often, it
will create more retransmission's on the VAN or switch fabric until they
are all set to the SAME SIZE !!!).

[May be Router/Switch dependent, Cisco, Nortel etc...]

Also,

Jumbo frames can cause status 13, 14, 41, and 174
errors in NetBackup. They don't always but if you
suddenly start seeing those errors after making the
change you will know why.
