my environment is similar.

Switch ports for GigE servers are set to 1000FD, but Gig Capable Windows
servers only have Auto/Auto, 100FD, 100HD, 10FD, 10HD. No 1000Mb/s
options...though auto/auto will negotiate to 1000 FD.... a *couple*
windows systems really aren't kicking data out like they should....I
have one that I can pull 80000KB/s off of (4x multistreaming) and
another that will barely give up 9000, and they're configured exactly
the same.....both have mirrored RAID arrays, same hardware, etc.

This is typically caused by incorrect or mis-matched NIC
settings between
the client and the LAN.

In our environment our Cisco switches are set to 100FDX no
AutoNeg,
This requires the SUN NIC settings to match.
