As an addition
The Windows Client is either tier 1 or tier 2
The tier 1 client is desktop, single user only, no web/file/dbase
services running (limited utility - we don't backup desktops)
The tier 2 client can be just about any type of server - the agent
software is where they get serious

Hi,

Not sure how it works in the States (it appears there may be some
difference between the States and Australia).
But:
All Windows clients are the same tier.
All NetWare clients are the same tier.
Database clients on Windows depends on the number of CPUs on the server.
(eg. Oracle, SQL, Notes, Etc.)
            A general rule is: 1-2 CPUs = Tier 1
                        3-4 CPUs = Tier 2
                        4-6 (I think) CPUS = Tier 3
After that I am not sure
Unix clients depends on the make and model of the server.
Master/Media server for Windows and Linux servers depends on the number of
CPUs (see above listing for approximate Tiers).
Unix again depends on the make and model.

Hope this helps a bit!

Regards,
Daniel Lupton

Hi gang -

For us, it is that dreaded time of year again... budgets. So we're
trying to figure out how much to budget for NBU licensing.... My question
is, how can I tell what Tier of something that I have? I am comparing a
list of what we bought last year during our true-up, the Licenses from the
servers themselves, and a standard list of Veritas support rates. I can
pretty much figure it out, but I'm having trouble knowing what Tier I need
to select. Anyone been through this before?

Veritas is no help as yet, they are telling us it's a 1 week
turnaround
time to get a quote for maintenance renewal. Our deadline is tomorrow!!
Not to mention, getting a hold of my rep has been a nightmare. If anyone
can help me figure this out, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,

Jen
