We are doing an ALT restore to a secondary Exchange server. I know they
say I shouldn't be done, but that's the way we do it. Most of the time
it works fine. Here is the error I get on the Exchange server.

=20

Faulting application tar32.exe, version 4.5.0.2792, faulting module
tar32.exe, version 4.5.0.2792, fault address 0x0002a2ec.

Hello Brandon

=20

I assume that you are restoring the db back to the same location that it
was backed up from.=20

And that the exchange server was put into restore mode by an exchange
admin userid.

=20

I assume that the message that you are reporting is from the netbackup
server.=20

If so what errors are you seeing on in the windows event logs on the
exchange server?

Have you created the debug logs on the exchange server? If so what are
you seeing in those error logs?

=20

Do you have the extended logs enabled on the netbackup server. What
other error messages are you seeing?

I am trying to do a restore of an Exchange 2003 DB. The media
server is Windows 2003, NBU 4.5 FP7 so is the client. I have done
successful restores in the past but recently when I attempt a restore I
am greeted with the error cannot write data on socket 10054 and the job
fails with error code 5. I have this same msg showing up on both of my
setups. I have an almost identical setup in CA that is producing the
same error msg. Any ideas? I have the latest network drivers and the
Network guys cant see any problems on the switches. The only change
within the last few months would be the windows updates from last
months.
