Was there found to be a compelling reason to change your NUM DATA
BUFFERS?

I'd check the bptm logging to see if there are buffer fill issues.

Netbackup 4.5 MP7 on a Sun V880, Solaris 8 with 8 DLT7000, 4 LTO, and 4
LTO2.

After-hours backups are taking 25-40% longer than they were last Friday.
Nothing changed between Friday and Saturday, but backups that were
taking 4
hours now take 5-1/2 hours.

On Thursday, we increased the value of NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS from 16 to
32. We
also increased shmsys:shminfo_shmmax in /etc/system to 1073741824. The
system was rebooted.

Everything was hunky-dory on Friday. Nothing was any faster, but nothing
was
any slower either. On Friday night, I started a manual backup that
should
have taken 5 hours. It was still going 7-1/2 hours later. Now, all
backups
are running way longer than they used to.
