Got this working - to an extent.  The offhost data mover is a Media Server.
Originally I meant that the snapshot was successful, as was the backup using
snapshot but not offhost.  Got this working using the underlying devices
rather than EMC Powerpath.  It is currently going to Veritas engineering so
may be an issue with PowerPath.

what's your offhost data mover?  Is it a SAN device or a Media Server?

It looks like the client can't figure out hot to map the device 
"56885291".

When you say that you "can do a snapshot backup (not offhost) where the 
snapshot is being created successfully", do you mean that without any 
offhost portion, the backup is succssful?  Or that the snapshot is 
successful?

What snapshot method are you using?

What's in the client's online_util and/or bpfis logs?
