You're right.  I tried, originally, to put the new tapes in the same VG as
the LTO-1 tapes but the software enforced the need for a second - which I
let default to the 00_000_TLD group.  The group associated with this vault.

The data, despite that setting, though, is still duplicating correctly.  Is
this setting only used for the catalog dups?

What is the "robotic volume group" associated with this vault?
Based on your description, I would expect it's the same volume 
group associated with 004401.

Given that a given NBU volume group can only contain one type
of media, the "robotic volume group" is the way that vault
is supposed to know which media type should be used for the
catalog backup.
