[Veritas-bu] Invalid Backups on Win 2003?
2004-10-19 17:16:48
Hello everyone,
We have 2 media servers that we've recently installed with 2003 Server.
We found that both media servers are backing up successfully, but the restores
end up with this error and then a bunch of garbage:
10/19/2004 2:45:11 PM - Error bptm(pid=992) backup id server_1098209859 is not
a tar formatted image

Last week we successfully restored from an image that was giving us this same
problem, but it had to be done using override and through a server that is
Windows 2000. We've tested that it happens on more than one media and more than
one drive. We are currently testing to verify that it is indeed related to
2003, but I thought I would go ahead and post this to the group since it seems
to be a pretty big and potentially dangerous problem. Has anyone else seen it
and has there been a fix?
Our environment is 4.5 FP5
Master is 2000 and 14 Media are 2000, the other two media servers are 2003
SSO is also installed
