We currently have 1868 DLT 7000 tapes in the system. I have a couple
that are over 1,800 mounts (2,278 & 1,897). The average for all of the
rest is 368 per tape. In the past three years we have had 3 tapes that
'flaked' on us. Having said that - I believe that 250 to 300 is a good
rule of thumb.

Thank you,

Anybody have a good idea how many times a DLT7000 - DLT8000 tape can be
mounted before it starts getting flaky? I remember reading somewhere
that 250 mounts (per NBU) was a good place to start planning on
replacing the tape.

Thanks
G
