Don't believe the myth!  There are a lot of dumbasses at MIT too.

Anyways, I've had no problems with rsyncing the catalogs between two
seperate Masters, and cross datacenter restores are a breeze.  One thing
to remember is the catalogs get rather large, depending on your retention
periods.  We ran out of disk space on both servers when we increased the
frequency of the longer rentains backups.
