I don't get these messages to /var/adm/messages. I have scanned the
past messages files and haven't found anything to do with media freeze.
I have found mount requests and other things, but not what I am looking
for.

The /var/adm/messages file has these messages recording dynamically.

Really what I am looking for is something that is real time. I have a
script now that will give me a status of tapes when I run the script,
but I would like to be alerted to when a piece of media is frozen and
also find out what the last drive it was mounted in is. This would aid
in finding if it is a problem related to the drive more than the media.

Thanks.

available_media at the command line should work if your in 4.5 2 or 3 of
the error reports will work.
in 4.5 (I forget the place in the GUI) I think media, will also sshow
you status
