Our environment is NetBackup 4.5 fp6 HP-ux 11.i. We have this environment
running at two and soon to be three location. We have set up the sites as D
R sites to each other using srdf to keep the data current. We have tested
this and can bring up our production environment at the alternate site with
data at acceptable currency. Now the issue is what to do with NetBackup.
Each site has its' own separate instance of NetBackup running. During a
disaster the running NetBackup could do the backups for the DR machines.
My problem / question is, what needs to be done if I need to do a restore
from the NetBackup system that was running at the site that had the
disaster. All my tape history information from the other site is in its'
NetBackup catalog which at this time is still on tape. Do I have to either
drop this catalog down to the running NetBackup, do the restore then put the
other catalog back or, run a separate instance of NetBackup with the other
site's catalog to access it's data? Any other ideas or solutions?
I'm just looking for ideas or suggestions what other companies are, or would
do if they were running in this environment.
Thanks in advance.
