You may want to look at (On Master) /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/admin/log.date
to ensure you are able to talk to all the media servers for cleanup.  If the
master does not communicate properly with each media server and complete
each task, it will terminate and leave the rest of the tasks undone.

we use
  bpexpdate -backupid <backupid> -d 0 -force to clean up our DSTUs
