[Veritas-bu] Error Status 81

Yup.
Just defeated this one in our environment. I don't have the tech note
number anymore but here's what I snipped from it:

Description:
Backups periodically fail with status 81 (Media Manager volume daemon (vmd)
is not active). Vmquery and vmcheckxxx/vmupdate may also fail.
The bptm logs show one or more entries similar to the following:
19:00:33.946 [5942] <16> string_to_record: cannot convert unrecognized
string: 0 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 NBU
Default Rule
19:13:55.448 [6799] <16> string_to_record: expected 63 parameters, only
found 10
Workaround:
Create the file:
/usr/openv/volmgr/VMDB_QUERY_BUFFER_SIZE
and set 0 (zero) in the file.

I am having this error message "media manager volume daemon not active"
during backup. I am using a windows 2000 media server with SP4. This error
message is intermittent. Has anyone seen this error message?
