Another thing to remember is to make sure your shared memory parameters
in /etc/system are properly set.  It does no good to increase the
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS and SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS if your shared memory limits
are too low.  Backups will fail if NBU can't get enough shared memory.

This should also be in the performance tuning guide.
