Hi Ed,

The server hostnames are being kept the same on the new servers to alleviate
that problem. The plan is simply to build the new solution and swap over the
network cables.

Cheers,

Steve.

If the new servers have different names than the old servers, you've got
a lot more work to do, and that includes the media servers which hold
the volume database. Changing the name of the master server is
officially unsupported although a lot of people have done it. We've
even done changing from Windows to Solaris but it was a *lot* of work
and definitely not for the faint of heart.

Don't forget about simple things like changing the server names in all
your bp.conf files...

Good luck,
        .../Ed
