My Master server is on Solaris 9, but I have also noticed the slow response=
 in the Admin Console. =20
=20
My vault.xml file 13 KB and I have 1 Robot, 3 Vaults, and 5 Profiles (total=
). =20
=20
Since the file is plain text (with some XML formatting) and it keeps a reco=
rd of what your vaults are doing, the more specific your vaults get, the bi=
gger the file will get. Of my 5 vault Profiles, none of them explicitly li=
st out more than 5 policy names. For the most part, my vaults include a lo=
ng list of clients, all policies and all schedules. This is why my vault.x=
ml file is small.
=20
>From what you describe of your vault profiles, 50K is probably a little big=
, but not totally unreasonable. Anything bigger than that would be suspect=
. =20
=20
As a Text file, you can view the file and see what it has in it. The XML f=
ormat makes it pretty easy to read. it would be interesting to see what re=
ally is in a 25MB vault.xml...

Here's a question for the community....

=20

Anybody know how big veritas\netbackup\db\vault\vault.xml is supposed to be=
? I've noticed the past few weeks that it's taken a long time to access Vau=
lt Management in the admin console, the console just hangs for a while then=
expands whenever I click on the + sign to expand down into Vault Managemen=
t. I only have one vault robot containing only one vault that has only 4 va=
ult profiles in it.=20

=20

I had an issue today where when I clicked on Vault Management, I received a=
n error that vault.xml was corrupted and could not be accessed. I restored =
it from tape and noticed that it was 25MB in size. I then made a change to =
one of the vault profiles and it jumped to 49MB in size.

=20

This is on a Win2003 Server running Netbackup Enterprise Server 5.0. Lookin=
g at my backups, before I upgraded from 4.5fp6 to 50 it was very small in s=
ize ( under 50k ). Hmmm......so now as I'm writing this and looking at the =
history it looks like I need to log this with Veritas after all. Has anybod=
y else noticed anything like this?
