Side note.
Its been a month and I never rebooted by Windows Server 2000 after install.
The enviroment is simple too though.
The only thing that might require the reboot is the veritas snapshot
provider(Open file option.

I'll probably reboot this weekend since I have other chores to perform.

I upgraded from 4.5MP6 to 5.0 and encountered _almost_ no issues at
all-- I was impressed. However, my environment is not overly complicated.
Just a single W2K Master with 4 Linux and 2 Windows SAN Media Servers.
Beyond that- I have a few Linux and Windows clients. All this runs over
Fibre Channel to a Dell PV136T with 4 LTO drives in it.

The one thing I will warn against is that NBU 5.0 seems to be much more
picky about hostname issues. I had a few Linux clients that didn't have a
reverse lookup in DNS and they would crap out with strange errors in the
logs, etc. (See my post in this group on 2/25/04). Just make sure all your
clients and servers are resolvable with hostname, fqdn, and by
IP-- and you should be fine. I had absolutely no issues with catalogs,
policies, or libraries-- the upgrade process went very smoothly. The
upgrade does require a reboot (on Windows), which is a little annoying.

Justin,

Did you encounter any issues with the upgrade.

Did the policys/jobs/libraries/catalogs etc... all move over without issue?

New keys are not required for anything I had when upgrading from 4.5 -> 5.0.

SSO, Exchange, Linux Clients, Library Storage, NBU Base, Win/Linux SAN Media
Servers.

All worked with no problems.

I've heard that 5.0 requires new license keys but the documentation (Unix
Installation Guide) claims that no new keys are required. Has anyone done
an upgrade from 4.5 and 5.0 and can confirm if new keys are required or not?

Thanks,
        .../Ed
