Make sure to check your /etc/nsswitch.conf file. Cprrect entry to use
/etc/hosts before dns should be like:

hosts: files dns
=20
Make sure you SERVER entry from /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf present in
/etc/hosts

It did some more testing. It seems that bprd is dependant on DNS.=20
If the server can connect to a dns server bprd seems to start up.=20
If it can't connect to a dns server, bprd cannot startup.=20
Even though hostname is in /etc/hosts.=20
This is odd. Maybe it's a bug.=20
