Yes it's a performance pig (running jnbSA on the server and serving it
back).  However, if you're firewalled like us, it the best option.

jnbSA -> VNC Desktop -> ssh tunnel -> PC desktop.

Works fine.

Yes. xbpadm was a motif GUI that had been deprecated for a while. Even
3.4 had a java GUI that they wanted you to use (it was horrible). There
is a java GUI available for UNIX systems (including Linux) and Windows
that works ok. If you have Windows, there is a binary app that has
better performance than the java GUI, for obvious reasons.

One word of caution, do NOT run the java GUI on the master and display
it back to your desktop. That is a very bad thing from a resource
perspective.
