I would build it with the logs writing to the /opt/openv filesystem and use
the other pair of disks in a different disk group for one of your catalog
backup locations. /opt/openv isn't that busy that the log writing will
negatively affect it, IMO.

As far as your layout, there's nothing preventing you from directly mounting
the log filesystem onto the /opt/openv/netbackup/logs mountpoint. Get it in
the right order in the /etc/vfstab and you can stack mountpoints.

Hey folks, I am building a new netbackup master (nbu4.5fp5) on solaris 8.
The server is fiber/SAN attached to an L700 with 10xLTO2 so it will need to
be as fast as possible, thus the spindle separation. The server will have
access to 6 x 72gig disks in 2 trays. Here is what I was thinking of doing,
can anyone shed some light on if this is good or bad plan.

root and swap --> mirrored across disk1 on tray 1 and tray 2
/opt/openv  -->  mirrored across disk2 on tray 1 and tray 2
/nbulogs -->  mirrored acress disk 3 on tray 1 and tray 2

Now I was planning on sym linking the /opt/openv/netbackup/logs and the
/usr/openv/volmgr/debug to the /nbulogs filesystem, so that my logs will be
on a FS separate from the netbackup catalog. Is this OK, is it safe??

Thanks!
