Normal...<2> are Informational messages at best. When you see <8>,
<16>, or <32> then you are talking trouble.

Is that 360GB Native or Compressed?

Subject: [Veritas-bu] errors in bptm logs

Couple of questions. I am running NB 4.5 mp5 Datacenter on Sol 9 with a
StorageTek L80. I keep getting the following reoccurring errors in the
bptm
logs.

db_byid: search for media id U00006
09:18:23.706 [23675] <2> db_byid: U00006 found at offset 5
09:18:23.720 [23675] <2> db_lock_media: unable to lock media at offset 5
(U0000)

Are these normal or should I be concerned. Also I use 360GB SDLT tapes
and
the most capacity I can get out of them seems to be around 220GB. Some
are
being marked full at around 170GB. I have "allow multiple retentions per
media" turned on. Could this be the problem? Would turning this off
increase
my capacity?

Also what is the default setting "MEDIA_ERROR_THRESHOLD"? I have several
tapes being frozen so I would like to increase it. They are new tapes,
so I
don't believe that they are bad.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks in advance,

Jeff
