I think some of the other posters are missing the possibility of a raw-disk
backup. It only allows a full disk restore with no individual files to be
restored, but it will allow disaster recovery.

Split the BCV's from their primaries and make sure those BCVs are available
to a media or master/media server (this is all about EMC port mapping or SAN
mapping). Then do a raw-disk backup of the disk names from that media
server. Since they are block backups only, they're pretty cryptic already
but if you want true encryption, you should be able to buy the encryption
module from Veritas to encrypt the data on the tapes.

Hi all!

I have a litle problem.
One of our systems is very censitive and they dont wont to give us direkt
acess to there server. BUT they us EMC disk for there applications and have
asked me if we can do a cypteted backup from there EMC disks.

Now to my question:
The system runs on Windows platform and our master runs hpux 11.i. We us
netbackup 4.5 FP5.
We are thinking about makeing BCV copies of there disks and some how backup
the data from the BCV copies.

How can i do that, is there any way to make a backup directly from a BCV
copy or must i mount the copy on another machine first?

Fine, this may not be the end of the world to fix, but how about the
crypting stuff? The data is not crypted on the disks, but the want it to
become crypteted in the backup system.

All information is of vaule... Thanks..

Best regards
Hampus Lind
