Hi!

Yes there is. I have change name on our master server a while ago. This =
is what i did:

1.stopp netbackup
2. make a backup
3. start netbackup again
4. remove all drives and robot.
5. change all server name info in all necessery files, hosts, bp.conf, =
vm.conf (netconf)
6. restart netbackup
7. add the drives and robot to the new master host name
8. move all tapes to new master name, by moving them to standalone and =
then move them rigth back again.
9. Change name in the database(catalog) bpimage -newserver <new_name> =
(can take a while)
10. This is not necessery for the backups to work, but it`s good to =
changes it. All the licenses are associated with the old master name. =
Remove them, and add them again to the rigth master name.
11. Change the name on all clients.

I hope this helps you.. Let me know if you need some more information...

Best regards
Hampus Lind

Subject: [Veritas-bu] machine rename affecting catalogues

  Hi,

  I run netbackup 3.2 on Solaris 8 over 2 sites a DR site and a primary =
site.

I am planning on renaming the backup machine at the DR site to be the =
same at the primary site so in event of DR I don't need to catalogue the =
tapes I bring over from the primary site.=20
I plan on just bringing the primary site catalogues over and importing =
them so it will know which images are on the primary site tapes.

  Now.

as the backups at the DR site were made with the old name im going to =
have trouble doing restores from DR site to DR site. So after my rename =
is there a way of converting the catalogues or something at the DR site =
to contain the new netbackup server name so I can restore files backed =
up at DR.

  Hope this makes sense

  cheers

  Dave
