Check your /var/adm/messages for that particular drive (index 0), see if
there are messages being logged there.
=20
I would also run a bpimmedia -d mm/dd/yyyy -e mm/dd/yyyy -U
=20
To see what the DWO column says for the backups that have been
successful. It sounds like it is a device problem if none of those
backups were written to Device Index 0. If they have, then I would (if
you can during the day), down all drives except Index 0 and run a few
backup jobs to the drive. Incidentally, keep in mind that this may in
fact be a media issue as well. I hope this helps.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Media write strange business
=20
Has any one seen this scenario before.
=20
I run netbackup 4.5 MP6 on Solaris 8 using a L25 tape unit attached with
an LTO tape drive and LTO tapes.
=20
Ok
=20
Currently i have 4 Solaris 8 UNIX clients 1 Linux client and 2 windows
clients.
=20
Now,=20
=20
the UNIX clients backup ok, but when the backup server backs itself up
as client it always fails with media write error. 84.
Also the Linux client fails with media write error 84 and the windows
clients sometimes work and sometimes give 84.
Strange thing is the other UNIX clients seem to give status 0.
=20
Looking in bptm logs I see errors of "drive on index 0, I/O error"
=20
This seems to happen and then abort backup with media error 84.
I tried using a different tape and same thing.
=20
Sometimes it gives storage unit 219 not available and i saw that NBU
downed the drive after 3 errors.
=20
Any help at all?
=20
Dave
