Hi All,

I have been put in charge of configuring vault using the Netbackup Vault
option. I have read the Vault administrators guide but I seem to be
having a problem. If anyone has the Vault option working can you please
let me know what I am doing wrong?

Here is what I have:
1. Master Server is running Windows 2000, it is also a Media Server
2. A Media Server running Solaris
3. An HP 6/60 DLT Library in a SAN (both the windows and unix media
servers have the SSO installed and both can backup and restore from the
library with not problem)
4, The library has (3) MAP (or mailslots)

Here is how we are planning to vault:

1. We are doing daily full backups and will be vaulting those
backups daily.
2. I decided on a profile called full_vault_eject (Since we are
doing the vault copy using ITC (in-line Tape copy) it is my
understanding that a profile to duplicate is not necessary and that the
only profile required is a profile to eject the tapes. According to the
Vault admin guide, it says that if you are using in-line-tape copy, only
an eject profile is necessary.
3. I created a policy of type "vault"
4. Also created a schedule to run the vault job every morning
5. The file list has this: "vlteject -ejeject full_vault_eject"
6. The client list is blank

Here is are the questions that I have:

Since the I am doing the vault copy at the same time as the backup, do I
need to still create a profile that chooses which images are to be
vaulted? I was under the impression that this is only necessary if you
are doing tape duplication. Am I correct? Or do I have to create a
vault profile?

On the profile that I created the only thing I specified was the volume
group and volume pool to use for the off-site tapes. Does the vault job
create the volume group?

Since we only have (3) MAP our vaults are sometimes up to 6 tapes, that
means that I don't have enough MAP to eject the tapes automatically.
Since the tapes have to be ejected manually, will running the vault
policy having "vlteject -eject full_vault_eject" on the file list
actually do anything?

Here is what happens when I run my backups/vault jobs:

When the backups run, I look at the activity monitor and I see that the
copies are being made. After the backup is done I see media containing
the backup copies in the "vault_pool". The next morning the vault
policy runs, the activity monitor says it was completed successfully,
however, the media with the image copies are still in the "vaul_pool"
and the off-site volume group does not exists. It was my understanding
that vault policy would run "vlteject -eject full_vaul_eject" and move
the media from the "TLD(0)" volume group to the "off-site" volume group,
I would then get the "robot pick list" report. I don't get the report
either. I also tried to eject the media using "vltopmenu" it said it
completed successfully, but I does the same thing as if running it from
the policy. I also run "Run Reports for this session" and I get some
reports, but not the "Robot Pick List" report.

I am so confused! I hope my problem makes sense.

Thank you very much for your help!

- Amy
