If folks don't want to upgrade I'll find my filter program and send it to
anyone interested. Basically the old glibc spit that error to stdout
so I just tacked a pipeline on the front which stripped the first N bytes
off and then read/wrote 8k blocks as fast as possible.
The rest of the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL stuff fixes my problems with it not
understanding reiserfs and the incremental backups others saw.
