We've seen this before. It can happen 2 ways
=20
1) You do the client install then don't reboot. Next time you go to log =
on to the Windows client the NBU Install starts up again asking to =
install the client when actually it removes it thinking there was a =
prior installed version. You really should reboot after a NBU Client =
install
=20
2) The other issue was when a BackupExec Client was installed then you =
install NBU client all is ok untill the Backupexec client is removed =
because it will remove the NBU client with the Backupexec client...
=20
Hope that makes sense.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] NetBackup client binaries mysteriously deleted

=20
We are having a rather strange problem with a Windows 2000 client we're =
backing up.
=20
Our master server is a Sunfire 280R running Solaris 9 and NBU Datacentre =
V4.5 FP5. The backup for this particular server has worked fine for =
several months but on 2 occasions recently, the backup has failed with:
=20
Subject: Backup on server_a - 57=20
=20
Backup on client server_a by root failed.
=20
Status =3D client connection refused.
=20
File list
---------
C:\
=20
We check to make sure the NetBackup service is running on the client. =
It's stopped. Attempts to restart fail with:
           =20
Unable to start service "NetBackup INET Daemon". The system =
cannot find the file specified.
=20
When we check the the client to see if the NetBackup files are there (in =
"Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\Bin"), all files are gone. The first =
time it happened, we thought it was odd but simply reinstalled the NBU =
client software and things worked fine for a few days but it happened =
again last night.
=20
Has anyone seen this behaviour before???=20
=20
TIA!
Kevin Cavanagh
