We're trying to justify a separate network also.  Has anyone done this on paper 
(the justify part) and could share some justification bullet points.

Always worth doing.  Take time to sit down and read the
manual so you understand what needs what in regards to
host names of clients and servers.  I highly recommend it.
Can your media server(s) get a fatter pipe like gigabit?
