We're running IBMtape, instead of st/sg drivers, with NBU 3.4.1 on
Solaris 8 to 3590 drives on a 3494 library. Like David mentioned, it
doesn't need to use st.conf at all (though if you have non-IBM drives
that need st, then it gets a bit tricky. The manual noted below goes
into details).

It seems to work quite well, but causes problems when you call Veritas
support. They always ask for 'support' script output, and that always
fails on a 'sgscan'. There is a technote on the Veritas tech support
site (don't have reference) that says to use st/sg instead of IBMtape.

The reference for installation and configuration of IBMtape (and lmcpd
the library daemon if you're using 3494) is the 'IBM SCSI Tape Drive,
Medium Changer, and Library Device Drivers' manual (GC35-0154). It has a
chapter on installing on all the major o/s flavours.
