[Veritas-bu] broken dlt tape carts

Good Afternoon

We have a DLT IV cart that has a damaged case that makes it unmountable. 
On our mainframe tape drives (3480, 3490, 3590),  tape in a broken cart can be 
removed and placed in a temp clamshell device for a one time load in the tape 
drive. This allows one to copy the data to other media. 

Has anyone heard of such a device for dlt type IV carts?
