The problem I'm experiencing is with the bp command's Restore Backups
menu (and similarly with xbp's Browse Backups mode). According the
documentation for bp:

L (List Backup Images)--Lists the backups for the client that meet
the "Directory to Search", the "Range of Dates", the "Directory
Depth" box, "Filename Filter", and the "Keyword phrase to
        associate with this backup" criteria.

Which isn't how it's behaving at all. If ask for the list of backup
images from 06/01/2003 through 07/01/2003 for a subdirectory under my
"/net/foo/" filesystem, which is only backed up with my
"Production_Servers" class, I'd expect to see a few dozen images.
Instead, the `L' command returns a list of several thousand (legitimate)
backup images dating from today all the way back through the later
months of 2002. Probably around 99.9% of those images are for backup
classes completely unrelated to the "Production_Servers" class, and none
of those other classes contain any references to files from the
"/net/foo/" filesystem. What bp appears to be doing is outputing the
complete list of backup images for the requested client.

The selection menu item behaves as expected, but they can take a lot of
time when my master server is busy. It'd be very helpful if I could
narrow the queries not only by client, backup type, date range, and
path--but also by explicit backup class. I generally only need to
search for files from a single class, and it at least /feels/ like
NetBackup is querying the entire catalog. That's speculation on my
part; maybe it's handled more cleverly.

Here's an example:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

             Path: /net/foo/dept/sw/doc/

Start Date: 06/01/2003 00:00:00 Master Server: master
End Date: 07/01/2003 00:00:00 Source Client: master
Files Selected: 0 Destination Client: master
Directory Depth: 1 level Class Type: Standard
     Display Mode: Brief Keyword Phrase:

                         Restore Backups
                         ---------------
  s) Select Files and Directories... p) Change Path...
  e) Edit/View Selected Files... d) Change Date Range...
  i) Initiate Restore c) Change Directory Depth...
  x) Change Display Mode to Verbose m) Change Master Server...
  l) List Backup Images... b) Change Source Client...
  a) Specify Alternate Path... t) Change Destination Client
  q) Quit Menu y) Change Class Type
  h) Help k) Change Keyword Phrase

  ENTER CHOICE:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I press the L key. Time passes...
 Time continues to pass...
I wander off to find a soda...
I return and leisurely sip my delicious icy cola...
 I finish my drink.
 More time passes...
