I'm curious about other people's strategy on backups.
Currently all production backups are geared around DR restore times.
(Disaster Recovery at remote site)
Since the data base we use is a pick type database ( universe and unidata )
we perform full cold backups of all production systems nightly off EMC bcvs
or HP bcs.

Every production server is HP-UX and backed up by file system in sequence
per server per tape drive.
I have found this to provide the best restore times during Disaster Recovery
tests.

Are there any other ( happy medium ) results that may prove beneficial to
backup times without completely annihilating the complete system restore
times?

As we are currently going through changes (migrating many servers to a
unified ERP ) I see the amount of data growing rapidly that we backup
nightly, so I'm looking to make adjustments to the NB Datacenter backups
prior to throwing additional hardware into the mix.

Any Experiences. Thoughts, Ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark Eisenhardt
