Hi All.
I have a large set of files, (totalling almost halve a gig of files) that
are continually written to by several servers. Files are categorized into
folders by month, then location of the server that wrote the file. A script
deletes all files older then 3 months. The files are never modified once
written.
Under Arcserve, I did an incremental backup of everything written in the
last 2 days. every day
I did a full backup of everything with a creation date of under 2 weeks,
every week. This ensured that all files were offsite, within a week after
being written, they were on at least 2 volumes, and I was backing up a
relatively small amount of data.
As I understand it, Netbackup does not have any kind of filter by date
feature. Is there a way to at least partially replicate this system? I am
unfamiliar with the numbered backup scheme, but I was thinking that I could
do a full backup once a month, a number 3 backup every day, and a number 2
backup every weekend (except the last.)
Do I have this right?
David
