Some industries like manufacturing subcontractors to the gov't might
require ridculously long recall of things like the design specs for
airplanes or rockets. You might need the flight test data for 7-10
years after the fact. <Consider the useful life of space craft>. But
why you'd save everything for forever seems wasteful... I only need
to keep "year-end" snapshots forever. Perhaps the poster has similar
unique reqs. Or maybe he's just a packrat.
