Well the st.driver is good..
=20
The patch level is at MP2 on NBU The backup network speed is gigabyt =
and the
backups are full, incr and RMAN.

Well,
=20
See your st driver (what level of patch) !!
=20
What is your backup ?? network speed, full, incremental ???

Okay I ran the DD test and did in fact see speeds of 69M per sec....
=20
It seems to me that NBU is what is slowing the devices down... On Last
nights backups I still did not see much better than my DLT drives =
except for
one of my dev boxes which was 27...
=20
ANY Thoughts on this is needed because it just DOES NOT make sense to =
me...

Travis,
=20
All your drives are direct connect or via fiber switch ??
=20
It seems that all your NetBackup tuning parameters are good so,did you =
try,
as Paul mentioned it, some trivial tests.
=20
Speed disk test with dd command, and tape tests (even with DLT drive).

I'll second what the two other gentlemen already mentioned. Since you =
don't
say anything about restore operations failing I am assuming you already =
had
the SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS set properly. The number of buffers is still key
though.
=20
Try this experiment on one of your T9940B drives:
dd if=3D/dev/zero bs=3D1024k count=3D2048 of=3D/dev/rmt/<num>cbn
and use iostat -xn to monitor the write throughput to the drive. I =
have
seen speeds of up to 69MByte/sec this way.
=20
By the way what class sun machine are running this on?
