[Veritas-bu] Mammoth2 drive problems
2003-04-22 16:38:04
I've been battling an Mammoth2 drive for a couple of months.
The M2 has been kicking my butt.
Exabyte has a theory. Let's say the maximum |drive-scsi-server| speed is
750MB/minute. Lets say your doing 30GB at that speed. Then you do another
30GB at 650MB/minute via|server-network-server-scsi-tape|. Then you do
another 12GB at 160MB/minute using |server-network-server-scsi-tape|.
Exabyte is surmising that the drive is starting to freak out at
160MB/minute, figures the drive is dirty and then tries to autoclean the
drive(a feature of M2 tapes is that the cleaning tape is built in).
Can i slow network connection kill the heads on a drive? What have your
experiences been?
Thanks
Karl
