True.

I should have completed my thought in my original email.

The point I was getting at was, yes, it looks like USER type schedule,
but why?

Is there a DB Agent in place here? It didnt' seem so from the original
email. So, my real question was why not have a FULL/INCR schedule with
no window that you can "kick-off" at will and then support mutliple
datastreams from the class config.

If the response is "the file list changes". Then I would suggest that
the process that generates this .dat file list (dirlist_for_db.dat)
simply write to an include list.

include_list.policy.schedule

The file list for the policy can include one file somewhere

/usr/openv/netbackup/version

and have an exclude list

exclude_list.policy.schedule

that contains /usr/openv/netbackup/version in it.

This will achieve what he is looking for....but as you can see I wanted
to ease him into this since he did mention that he was a DBA and not an
NBU admin...

:-)

They are running bpbackup with -f option and the backup finished
successfully... So, it must be schedule with type USER :)

NBU 3.4
SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-18 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise-10000 How
can I concurrently write to multiple tape drives when running bpbackup
using the -f filelist parameter.
>From Unix Korn shell script the following command is being issued:
        /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpbackup -w -c inv_sys_dbbkup -s
daily_full -L dbbkup.log -f dirlist_for_db.dat The dirlist_for_db.dat
file contains a list of directories where the related database file
reside: /dbf/dbredo01/ind1b/ /dbf/dbredo02/ind1b/ /dbf/dbredo03/ind1b/
/dbf/dbredo04/ind1b/ /dbf/ua09/ind1b/ /dbf/ua10/ind1b/ /dbf/ua11/ind1b/
/dbf/ua12/ind1b/ When this backup is executed it uses a single stream
writing to one tape drive. Is there a way to get this backup to
concurrently write multiple streams to more than one tape drive at a
time? Excuse my ignorance. I'm a DBA and do not have access to any
NetBackup manuals. The backup team that is responsible for this tells me
there is no way to do this. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Phil Geraci
