Dank je Paul,

I was hoping I didn't have to do this by backupid there are literally
millions of files spanning 16 tapes.

I hate to ask as you've been so helpful, but are you sure about the
different retention levels on one tape?
I ask because we have only one backup pool with retention levels from 1
month to infinity writing to it. When we chose NetBackup as a solution, we
were advised during installation that NetBackup will automatically select
tapes based on retention level. (It was explained to us that for each new
retention level a new tape would be selected, and if there were half full
tapes it would only use the put the same retention level onto it). It would
be worrying to think that data with 2 month retention is stored on a tape
with an infinity level. AAArrrrgh! Sorry, I'm just having an admin' panic
attack.

Thanks for your help with the command line stuff.

Groeten,

Louise

Hallo Louise

You are trying to combine these two flavors of the bpexpdate command:
Bpexpdate -recalculate -backupid backup_id -host media_server -client
client_name -policy policy_name -ret 6 -M master_server
with
Bpexpdate -recalculate -m media_id -host media_server -d mm/dd/yyyy -M
master_server
and that is not allowed.

The reason is that retention levels are associated with individual backups,
not with an entire piece of media since it is possible to place multiple
retention levels on a single tape (by setting the appropriate flags in
NetBackup.) Thus when fiddling with an entire tape you can only set a new
expiration date to apply to all images on that tape.

Veel geluk hiermee en als je nog meer help nodig hebt, stuur me maar nog een
mailtje,
 PaulW
