Hello.
A file that would fit on a floppy disk can take over 12 hours to restore in
my environment.
Pretty bad for customer service.
My environment is an instance of NBU 3.2 capturing a weekly backup of a
Network Appliance Filer using an NDMP scheme to a locally attached DLT
library. The Filer can be capturing several
terabytes of data. A restore can call for the loading of umpteen DLT IV
tapes for this
one itty-bitty-file.
My recent postings to the Veritas.Com newsgroup later proved that the DAR
functionality required to get this one itty-bitty-file back in a more
reasonable time frame was not available in the NBU 3.x realm. My file has
the latest ONTAPP OS.
I'm trying to ascertain and confirm that if I move from 3.x to 4.5 FP3, the
environment will
allow me to take advantage of DAR and get my itty-bitty-file back a bit
sooner.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Sincerely
Jim
