Try the "wide" output. The status byte is column 28.

vmquery -w -m 000099 | awk 'NR>3 {print $28}'

Alternately, this command will print all catalog tapes in the volume
database:

 vmquery -a -w | awk '$28==1 && NR>3 {print $1}'

(...the "NR>3" stuff just skips the header on the output)

-M

Howdy Mark,

Tape 000098 has a status of 1

Tape 000099 shows no status when I execute the

command. The Status line does not appear, but

it did with 000098.

Any ideas?

James

This could be that you're trying to use a tape with a data label for a
catalog backup - a "no-no" for NB.

The vmquery command can show you a "status" byte. Status=0 is for data,
while status=1 is for catalog. Try "vmquery -m 000099" to check.

If you're using a data tape for this, you could try relabeling the tape
using the "bplabel" command.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Catalog Backup Failure

Howdy,

I'm new to Veritas Netbackup, but I have installed in and

everything has been working fine for about a month now.

However, I started getting a failure when the catalog attempts

to backup. Has anyone seen this:

Version: 4.5GA

media manager - system error occurred(174)

When I look at the media manager logs, I see:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------

10:04:25.631 [1455] <2> vmdb_query_byID_getpool: server returned: 1 21

NetBackup ANYHOST -1 -2 the NetBackup pool

10:04:25.633 [1455] <16> load_media: NB database backup

media id 000099 is not assigned in Media Manager volume database

or is not assigned as an NB database backup media

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------

I have done an inventory of our StorageTek and media id 000099 shows up

just fine in the library.

Any ideas?

Thanks...James

James Wade
