Sounds like the sorts of problems we had before patching.  We patched the
master & media servers, clients - netbackup s/w and db extensions, to
NB_34_3.  Haven't looked at higher patch levels yet but this reduced our
problems considerably - something to do with updated comms routines.  Still
get occasional errors but they can usually be tracked back to an event such
as a dodgy tape or drive problem, and not just a generic failure.
