[Veritas-bu] NBU vs Omniback

We are in the process of converting from HP Data Protector to Netbackup 4.5.
We have been using Omniback since version 3.0.
Reasons for converting:
Questionable support for anything not HP.
Lack of strong Novell Netware support and certification.
Had numerous problems with catalog database corruption with Data Protector.
The need to reduce the number of backup solutions. We had Backup Exec and
Data Protector.
Netbackup has more supported tape/library devices compared to Data
Protector.
Ability to grow as our disaster recovery needs increase.
Current environment consists of about a dozen machines with full backup
about600GB:
HP-UX, Windows NT/2000, Exchange 5.5, and Novell 6.0.

HP Omniback no longer exists - its called HP Data Protector (name
changed
Sept 2002)
The recent versions have a PC windows client which is a reasonable
improvment on the old version of X11.
Both do the same job in much the same way but NBU is more complex
