I thought about the * option after I sent this, but was wondering how it
would be interpreted in front of the colon.

I have noticed that it (NT/2000 platforms) acts differently in some cases
from Unix...I haven't tried this yet...so I'd be interested in what you find
out Paul.

according to the file list rules for Windows clients, :\ or *:\ would
work, so I would think the same would be true for exclude/include lists, but
haven't tested that. If that were true, what you are already trying would
work though. Have you tested it yet? "?" is also supposed to be valid for
Windows, so David's would probably work as well.

  I would try *:\excludedir

  I think you want

  "?:\excludedir"

Is this a valid exclud statement:

  ":\excludedir"

I am trying to create a dynamic exclude entry that would ignore
"excludedir"
  on
the root of every drive without specifying drive letter itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks,

  paulg
